Welcome to Barakabalat Cafe, a hidden gem nestled in the charming streets of Balat, Istanbul. This delightful cafeteria is not just a place to grab a bite; it's an experience that envelops you in the heart of the city’s rich culture while treating your taste buds to an array of culinary delights.

As you make your way up the steep lane leading to the café, you’re rewarded not just by the effort but by the warmth of the café's ambiance. With a stunning rooftop terrace that offers panoramic views of the river and the historic Balat neighborhood, every visit is graced by the gentle whisper of the breeze and the vibrant sights of the area. It's truly a feast for both the eyes and the palate.

The star of the menu is undoubtedly their San Sebastian cheesecake. This dessert is a must-try, praised by locals and visitors alike for its creamy texture and rich flavor, harmoniously balanced with a delicate crust. Pair it with their aromatic Turkish tea or the refreshing peach tea, and you have a culinary experience that transports you to a realm of bliss.

Reviews from customers echo this sentiment, with Puscasu Marian highlighting the “fantastic tourist potential” and “good culinary experience at a fair price.” The isolated yet inviting location contributes to its charm. Meanwhile, Alex C raves about the “lovely people” who work there, enhancing the warm atmosphere that puts you at ease as you enjoy your treats. The kindness of the owners is a recurring theme in the testimonials, with Chia Yin Ho sharing a heartwarming experience of being treated to a traditional dessert, embodying the café's hospitable spirit.

Although some visitors have noted a language barrier with the owner not speaking English, the delightful offerings and exceptional service more than make up for it. As Ms. Noi aptly puts it, the coffee and cake are worth every step of the journey to this café.

In conclusion, Barakabalat Cafe is not just a place to enjoy a sumptuous meal but an experience that brings together the beauty of Balat and the richness of Turkish hospitality. Don’t miss the chance to sit on the rooftop, sip on a perfectly brewed cappuccino, and indulge in the sweet, velvety cheesecake while soaking in the breathtaking view. Whether you’re a local or a traveler, it’s an encounter you’ll cherish.

A location with fantastic tourist potential, slightly isolated but offering a good culinary experience at a fair price. With a superb view from the roof! I recommend the Sansebastian cake together with a Turkish tea. A big minus is the owner does not speak English.

Highly recommend the cafe. The price, the coffees and the cake are all great. It is really worth to walk up the steep lane to visit this shop.

Such lovely people that work here. The San Sebastian cheese cake was delicious. Combined this with a peach tea and a beautiful view on the upper level with a nice view towards the river. It is high on the hill but worth it

Simply the most stunning coffee shop around and my cappuccino was superb, the finest I've had yet in Istanbul. Check out the rooftop patio.

This must be the highest coffee spot in Balat—I stumbled upon it by accident after walking up to the Greek Lyceum. It’s a two-storey café, and the upper floor offers a spectacular view over one of Balat’s streets leading down to the Bosphorus. The staff were lovely. I only had a water since I wasn’t feeling well, but after an hour I felt better and left. I’ll definitely come back with more time to enjoy it properly.
